Xiujie Ma
Xiujie Ma (Mathius) is a professor of traditional sport/physical education at the School of Martial Arts/Chinese Guoshu Academy, Chengdu Sport University. He is a practitioner and a scholar of Chinese martial arts. His research focuses on the international spread and health outcomes of Chinese martial arts. His most recent work focused on kung fu cinema. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles and published in various academic journals. He has also received numerous awards and grants for his research. In his free time, he likes to practice chang quan, nunchaku, taijiquan and tanglang quan. He is currently planning to start a postdoctoral research project on ‘Dissemination of Chinese Martial Arts in the UK and Europe’ at the School of Journalism, Media and Culture at Cardiff University.
